Prayers for the Weld County District Attorney

Let us pray for Colorado’s Weld County District Attorney (Michael J. Rourke). We pray that he would successfully take part in representing this county according to justice, equity, wisdom, and righteousness as commanded in the Word of the Lord.

  1. Pray for the true conversion of Mr. Rourke as one who will give account to God, truly and sincerely professing allegiance to Him that his conversion and subsequent life is coupled with a desire for obedience and a growing knowledge of God’s will, such that his sincerity and love for Christ would shine through his actions and be a worthy witness even in the face of persecution and political opposition. (Colossians 1.9-13, Psalm 2.10-12)
  2. Pray that he would recognize his position as a minister of God for good, that he would promote good according to God’s Word as he leads his people in the pursuit of public safety and the pursuit of justice in Weld County. That he might hold to and reinforce the standards of morality and honesty as described in the Scripture and not according to the conventional wisdom of the world and society. (Romans 13.1-6, Deuteronomy 17.14-17)
  3. Pray that he would not be swayed by prejudice, personal advantage, inattention to duty, past afflictions and troubles, favoring of friends, general immoral tendencies of the culture and social media, etc. in the administration of his office, but would be genuinely concerned for the standards of morality, fairness, and justice under God. (Ecclesiastes 5.8)
  4. Pray that he would know the Word of the Lord, and perform his office more and more according to the righteous Standard of the Word, upholding justice, and using his office for the glory of God and the good of the people – also that he would not sear the consciences of the people nor forget the judgments of the Lord against injustice. (2 Samuel 23.1-7)
  5. Pray for wisdom for Mr. Rourke that he would not give heed to the cares of this world, greed, unjust gain, and the lusts of other things would not rise up and choke out the influence of the Word of God in hi life, making it unfruitful, but that keeping our her fixed on honesty, integrity, and truthfulness, that he might bear much fruit. (Mark 4.18-19; John 15.1-8)
  6. Pray for wisdom for Mr. Rourke that he would execute a godly office with humility, integrity, and honor as the district attorney of Weld County, and that he would be given strength to oppose unjust laws from the state and federal government but that they would seek to support and defend the residents of the county with honor and integrity according to the Word of God. (Proverbs 3:27, 20.14, James 2:9)
