Prayers for the Supreme Court Justices

Let us pray for the Supreme Court Justices of the United States, that they would take part of leading the nation according to justice, equity, wisdom, and righteousness according to the Word of the Lord.

  1. Pray that the members of the Supreme Court – as many as God in His sovereign grace appoints to eternal life – might believe, repent, and confess the Lord Jesus Christ, truly and sincerely professing their allegiance to Him. (1 Timothy 2:1-6, Acts 13:48)
  2. Pray the Justices would seek to judge righteously for the nation, according to the standard of morality set forth in the Scripture. (Deuteronomy 16:18-19, 17.14-17)
  3. Pray the Lord would turn the Justice’s decisions on the issues of abortion, excessive taxation, gender identify, the welfare state, religious freedom, and reject the promotion of false religions and other positions contrary to the teachings of Scripture. (Proverbs 21.1)
  4. Pray the Lord would turn the Justice’s heart and affections away from the world, away from political affiliations, away from evil, away from bribery, and towards righteous judgement as set forth in Scripture. (Deuteronomy 16:19, Leviticus 19:15)
  5. Pray the Lord would cause each Justice to be drawn to and grow in their loyalty, admiration, and love to Him, His Word, His people, and His ways. (Exodus 34.12)
  6. Pray that each Justice would flee all wicked and divisive courses and refrain from turning aside from the obeying the commandments of the Lord. (Isaiah 58.1-12; Ephesians 4.11-16)
  7. Pray that each Justice renders righteous judgments as one who judges not for man but for God, that the fear of the Lord may be upon them as ones who are appointed by God as minsters for good. (Judges 2:16-19, 2 Chronicles 19:5-7)
