Pray regarding the authorities described in Scripture: that the Church, Nation, and Families would learn biblical obedience. (Leviticus 19.32; Matthew 15.1-6; Colossians 3.20)

1. Pray that all in authority would learn to govern as those who will give account to the One who has all authority, that they would not arrogate to themselves an illicit or violent use of power, that all would govern for the glory of the Lord, and the good of those their inferiors, in obedience to the Lord. (2 Chronicles 19.5-11; 2 Corinthians 12.14)
2. Pray for those under authority, that they would obey all lawful commands and counsel received from their superiors, submitting to them as the ordinance of the Lord, and when called upon by superiors to sin, or to neglect necessary duty, that they would humbly and with entreaty refuse, appealing to the Scripture. (1 Peter 2.13; Acts 5.29)
3. Pray that those in authority in the Church, State, Business, and Family would look to the Lord and His Word for proper judgments and direction—especially those who have a Christian profession, that they might be an example to their peers, and that they would execute their authority in righteousness. (Proverbs 16.12; Colossians 4.1)
4. Pray for good understanding regarding authority in our land—that we would not ascribe authority to individuals, but to the just and wholesome laws of each jurisdiction, and magistrates as executors of that justice. Pray also for the repeal
   of immoral laws, and the ensconcing of wholesome laws. (Psalm 94.20; Proverbs 8.15-16)
5. Pray for an end to rebellious speech and behavior, that those under authority would pray for those over them, “bearing with their infirmities, and covering them in love” (WLC 127) and humbly submit in all lawful things even to the unruly superior; being careful to maintain the good administration of authority. (1 Peter 2.18; Genesis 9.20-27)
6. Pray that those in authority would adorn that authority with grace, honor, respect, and obedience to the Lord in all
   their commands and counsels, commending and encouraging righteousness in all those under their authority, praying
   for them, adorning and preserving that God-given authority. (Romans 13.4-5; 1 Peter 2.14)
7. Pray that rebels to the Lord, whether in positions in the world as superiors or inferiors, would e corrected by proper authority, that none would be a law to themselves, but even the natural witness of morality in all would have its due exercise, men’s consciences accusing and correcting concerning evil, and commending the good. (Romans 2.1-29)
