The Sanctity of the Truth

Pray for the people of God, that they would be committed to the truth of Scripture. (Isaiah 59.1-21; 2 Thessalonians 2.1-12)

  1. Pray that the people of God would receive “the love the truth, that they might be saved.” That the Lord would deliver us from our natural blindness and following lies, that we would “buy the truth, and sell it not,” that we might enjoy that true Christian liberty, as the truth shall make us free and in this an example to the world. (2 Thess. 2.10; Psalm 4.2; 119.18)
  2. Pray for Biblical and Spiritual wisdom for the Church, that her ministry and membership might be enabled to cut through the deception of the evil one, discern the good from that which is foul and sinful, and proceed according to the commands and counsel of Christ in holy Scripture, following her Head, leaving alone the commands of men. (1 Timothy 4.1-5)
  3. Pray that the Church would avoid the deceptions of this age, whether they come from the state, society, or even from within the visible Church, and would lift up the voice of truth in her prophetic responsibility to speak for the Lord and his ways, and that the people of God would turn away from falsehood. (Isaiah 59.19; 62.10; Matthew 14.3-4)
  4. Pray that the people of God would be delivered from the bondage of falsehood, and would walk in the liberty of the sons of God, knowing their deliverance from the power of sin, redemption in Christ, liberty in obedience, and that the Church would not turn to the vain philosophy of this world, especially in its false reasoning and science falsely so-called, and instead would bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. (Colossians 2.8; 1 Timothy 6.20)
  5. Pray for the Church’s esteem of the Word of God, that the Lord would be pleased raise up that standard in our midst, that the Church would receive the Wod of God as His very Word, unique from all else in this world, and with great rejoicing, receive and follow that Word, even when costly and difficult. (Jeremiah 15.16; Proverbs 19.21)
  6. Pray for objectivity in considering our ways, that as Churches, families, and individuals, we would evaluate our words and ways according to the Bible, that the Lord would grant clarity, objectivity, and deliver us from self-deception, that we would commend that which is good, giving thanks to God, and bewail that which is not, seeking mercy, repentance, and reformation. (1 Corinthians 3.18; 1 John 3.7; Ephesians 5.5-6; Psalm 139.1-6; 23-24)
  7. Pray for the pure preaching of the whole counsel of God in truth, that this would include “moral truth as well, that the preaching of the law of God would have its due fruit. (Psalm 119.142; Acts 20.17-35; 2 Corinthians 4.1-7)
