The Nurture of the Lambs of Christ

Pray for the Church, that she would come alongside parents in Christian nurture.

  1. Pray for the catechetical work of the Church, that she would follow the Lord in creating that ecclesiastical environment that nurtures the children of the Church in their study of God’s Word as an aid to parental instruction. (Deut. 4.10)
  2. Pray for the ministers of the Gospel, and for godly Elders of the Church, that they would also instruct the little ones of the Church in her public teaching ministry, that the children might have good relations with their ecclesiastical leaders, forging bonds that will pay spiritual dividends. (Psalm 38.11)
  3. Pray for the children of the Church, that through the teaching of the Church, and their parents’ instruction, they would be protected from the predation of the evil one in all his wiles against the lambs of Christ. (2 Chronicles 20.10-13)
  4. Pray for proper, safe, and goldy venues, churches, and social situations where children might find godly spouses, desiring that which the Lord would have, that they might carry forward the worship of the Lord generation by generation, that the Lord would have a godly seed to serve Him. (Genesis 6.1-5)
  5. Pray for godly and lasting marriages and families in the Church, that the scourge of divorce might not be named among us, that the children of Christ might have a godly environment in which to grow to serve the Lord, godly examples of mother and father, that the Lord would have a godly seed to serve Him. (Malachi 2.13-16)
  6. Pray for those children, especially in Presbyterian churches (and among other paedobaptists) that they would look forward to the day when they might own their baptismal engagements publicly, professing Christ, taking His name upon their own lips, and that the Lord would protect them unto that day. (Judges 13.1-7; Psalm 22.10; Isa. 46.3)
  7. Pray that holiness would so pervade our families that we would remain separate and pure from the evil influences of this world, that parents would provide a hedge and buffer against evil for their children, that the Church would encourage and instruct regarding the Lord’s command not to learn the way of the unbeliever, that He might grant to us a witness in this world that is blessed, and holy, in our families and churches. (Jeremiah 10.1-7)
  8. Pray that the children of the Lord, growing up in the Church and godly families, would be fitted for their future stations in life, that they would learn temperance, manners, wisdom, knowledge, and other godly skills, but most of all, that they would call upon Christ, and rest upon Him alone. (Genesis 18.17-19)
