The Hope of the Christian, and strong confidence in the Lord.

Pray that the Church would hope in that godly way, in the Lord.

  1. For godly confidence, and not presumption, as we rest in the Lord and His promises for these days, days to come, and into eternity, that we would make use of all the means of godliness, resting in the Lord. (Psalm 31.24)
  2. Pray that as days become darker, as apostasy from the truth increases, and as our societies advance in immorality, that God’s people would not lose hope in God, maintaining their holy witness in this crooked generation. (Philippians 2.15)
  3. Pray that the people of God would not lean upon the government, rest in wealth, hope in earthly structures of power, but that they might hope in the Lord for security in this world, and that which is to come. (Psalm 20.7)
  4. Pray for the faithful people of God, in the midst of a society and church that have gone astray in many ways, that they would have that anchor of the soul, looking to their forerunner, Jesus Christ, who for them has entered within the veil, that they might have a sure confidence in their acceptance with the Lord. (Hebrews 6.19)
  5. Pray that the people of God would finish their course with joy, because of the firm hope and confidence in the Lord and in His ways, that we would not be moved off our course, but would follow Christ. (Acts 20.24)
  6. Pray for the mind of Jeremiah among the people of God, that with Jeremiah we might have confidence in the Lord’s mercies, no matter the outward circumstances, confessing with the prophet, “The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3.24)
  7. Pray that we would not grow weary in well doing, but would have confidence in the Lord, according to His appointed means, of a spiritual harvest, in our attendance upon public worship, diligence in private and secret ordinance, in following after good works and uprightness, as the way the Lord has appointed for our salvation. (Galatians 6.9)
  8. Pray that Christians would encourage one another often with words of truth and hope, that we might gather strength from the fellowship of the saints, and that the Lord would give hope through mutual encouragement. (Eph 5.19)
  9. Pray for the ministers of the Word, that they would remind the people of God often, especially during days of affliction and difficulty, that the Word and promises of god are sure, that his mercy is everlasting, that their eternal estate is not in jeopardy as long as they hope in Christ, ad that God would bless this ministry. (Romans 15.1-6)
