The 1st Commandment, God as the only God.

Pray concerning the First Commandment and its implications.

  1. Pray concerning the mindset of the Church concerning the Word of God—that she would receive it as coming from the only true God, and would not admit other theories of truth into her doctrine and practice; for the people of God that we would hear the voice of God as coming from the only God, that no idols would rise up to steal away our thoughts and loyalty, that God’s Word would have its unique and proper place in our lives. (Psalm 115.1-11; John 10.1-5)
  2. Pray that the people of God would set a good example to the world around them by putting away the strange gods of this age—worldly philosophy, carnal security and ease, trusting in wealth, strength, health, military or economic might, inordinate seeking of leisure or recreation, that she would take the lead in calling upon the Name of the Lord alone, holding forth His Name, and the Word of life in Him. (Joshua 24.23; 2 Chronicles 33.15)
  3. Pray concerning cultic groups, worshippers of false gods, that coming into contact with Christians, and by the pure preaching of the Gospel of Christ, those enslaved in the darkness of The Watchtower Society, Mormonism, Christian Scientism, the Roman Church and its Antichrist, and other perversions of the truth of Christianity, that they might be delivered out of the kingdom of darkness, and into the kingdom of the true Christ. (Colossians 2.1-23; Revelation 18.4)
  4. Pray for those enslaved in the darkness of other world-religions: Taoism, Bhuddism, Hinduism, Islam, Zoroastrianism, and those involved in Wiccanism, and other revivals of ancient superstitions, that they too might hear the preaching of the Gospel and be called to Jesus Christ. (Acts 19.13-20)
  5. Pray that all perversions of the gospel of Christ would be purged from the Church, that she would not preach another Jesus, another Spirit, and another Gospel, thus perverting the doctrine of God, but that she would faithfully preach the true Gospel and the Triune God, fully, from the Bible. (2 Corinthians 11.1-4)
  6. Pray for orthodoxy from the pulpits of true Churches regarding the doctrine of God, that the Lord would be set forth from the Scripture in all clarity and truth, as Triune, yet one God, a Most Pure Spirit, as sovereign, transcendent, immanent, holy, just and good, visiting iniquity, yet also forgiving sin, according to His eternal and simple being, and the counsel of His own will. (Exodus 34.5-7; Ephesians 1.11)
  7. Pray that the people of God would love the Lord with all their hearts, that they would have no others with or alongside Him, that their loyalty and love to Him would be unique, without competition. (1 Thessalonians 1.9)
