Pray that the Lord would be worshipped and served according to His commandments.

Pray that the Lord would be worshipped and served according to His commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6; 1 Corinthians 14:1-40)

  1. Pray that the people of God would recognize that the worship service is to serve the Lord our God, and not ourselves. Accordingly, pray that all forms of  entertainment, performance art, man-pleasing, and all other carnal perversions of
the worship of God would come to an end, that the Lord would receive those services as “instituted by Himself” for Himself, and unto Himself. (Deuteronomy 12:28-32)
  2. Pray for the Church, that she would prepare in eager anticipation to meet her God week by week in corporate worship, submitting her mind, will, and affection to His commands and kind fatherhood, resting in His mercy in Christ, receiving and believing sound doctrine, being conformed to His image, and offering themselves as living sacrifices to Him. (Romans 12:1-2)
  3. Pray that the Lord would purify His Worship through sound preaching on the duty of the Church to worship God according to His Commands, that the Lord would send His Spirit with that preaching that the Church would embrace the Scriptural principle of worship, and love those elements the Lord has given. (Matthew 28:20)
  4. As the people of God pray to Him, ask that the Lord would grant to them His Spirit, that they might be heard through the mediation of Christ, asking for those things that are agreeable to His Word. (James 4:3)
  5. Pray for the reading and preaching of the Word, that the Lord would anoint His servants with His Spirit, such that the doctrines and commandments of men are not heard from the pulpits of this land, but only the true voice of the Good
Shepherd, that the people of God would follow Him wherever He leads, and nowhere He does not. (John 10:1-18)
  6. Pray that the sacraments would be rightly administered according to the “pattern revealed in the mount” that they would be received by God’s people with faith and reverence, and that the Lord would sanctify them for His use to our spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace. (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
  7. Pray for holiness in the use of vows and oaths for things of proper weight and moment. (Psalm 22:25; 116:14-18)
