Pray that the Church, her officers and members, would love the Lord first, wholly, in truth, and at all times. (Deuteronomy 6:1-25, 30:1-10)

  1. Pray for the Church, that the Lord would make the preaching of the Gospel effectual to the conversion of many to Christ, that they would love the Lord their God from hearts purified by faith. (Acts 15:6-9)
  2. Pray that the people of God would run in the ways of a singleness of heart toward the Lord, that we would avoid those ways and courses which draw our hearts away from loving the Lord as we ought, and that the Lord would take away inordinate love for other things, that our love for Him might increase. (Isaiah 8:13-15)
  3. Pray that the Lord would tear down the idols of our hearts, that we might serve Him with sincerity and love, all the days of our lives. (Ezekiel 14:1-11)
  4. Pray that we would manifest our love to God by sincere, unhypocritical, and enthusiastic receiving and keeping of all His commandments, that they would not be grievous to us, but instead be as He intended - as delights. (1 John 5:1-3; John 14:15)
  5. Pray that our love for God would be manifested by a love for His people, our brothers and sisters in Christ, that this love would be fervent, pure, and manifested in our service one to another. (1 John 3.14-16)
  6. Pray that the people of God would not draw back from their love for God even when that love is costly through persecution, estrangement, marginalization, patronization, or isolation. (1 John 3:11-13)
  7. Pray that our profession of love for God would be manifested by love for His Word, His Worship, His commandments, His ways, His Name, His Holy Day, and His people, with the sincere maintaining of all these things, seeking first His Kingdom and its righteousness, and herein, having no other gods before Him. (Exodus 20:1-11)
  8. Pray that the Bible would have its place in our thoughts as the very Word of God, “The truth itself” and that there would be no other competitor to God speaking in His Word to our thoughts, affections, and ways. (John 17:17)
  9. Pray that God’s people would often examine themselves to see if any competitors to the Lord have risen up, and that the Lord would be pleased to maintain His throne in our hearts. (Psalm 139:1-6, 17-24)
