Pray for the Church, that she would keep the Sabbath Holy to the Lord her God week by week. (Isaiah 66:1-24)

  1. Pray for the Church, that she would promote and facilitate Sabbath-keeping among her membership through proper teaching, example and encouragement, that the people of God may be separated from the world in the use of their time, as those who belong to the Lord, learning to live according to His pattern for their lives. (Exodus 31:13-16)
  2. Pray for a proper care among the people of God for their souls, that they would see the great need we have to set aside those times and seasons the Lord has given for our good, especially in these New Testament days, one whole day in seven to be a Sabbath of Holy rest, spent in the things of God, to our Spiritual profit. (Isaiah 58:13-14)
  3. Pray for the people of God, that they would settle their worldly business before the Sabbath arrives, that they may be free and fit to honor the Lord on His Holy day. (Exodus 16:22-29; Luke 23:54-56)
  4. Pray for proper self-examination and reflection among the people of God, week by week, after the Sabbath, to remember how they have conducted themselves upon the Lord’s Day, what thankfulness they have had for it, what use they have made of it, and to set out in the week with that Sabbath-awareness. (Ezekiel 22:26)
  5. Pray for the people of God, that they would be strong in the face of pressure from fellow-professing Christians, and from the world, and refrain from profaning the Sabbath either by not keeping it holy, or by adding to it days other than those of God’s appointment. Pray that no threat of persecution would avail with the people of God in this. (Nehemiah 10:29-31)
  6. Pray for our civil leaders, that they would learn righteousness regarding the Sabbath day, that such righteousness exalts a nation, and that they would order the laws of the land according to the Law of God. (Prov. 14:34; Neh. 13:15-22)
  7. Pray for Christians and their employers, that they would not be oppressed by unlawful requirements as the terms of their employment, especially concerning Sabbath keeping, that employers would understand that employees who keep
the 4th Commandment make the best and most diligent, honest workers. (Exodus 20:10; Jeremiah 17:20-22)
  8. Pray that the people of God would not mix the holy with the profane upon the Lord’s Day, that we would refrain from works lawful on other days, but not appropriate on the Sabbath Day. (Exodus 34:21)
  9. Pray for Christian parents, that they would teach their children to hallow the Lord’s Sabbaths. (Deuteronomy 11:19)
