Pray for the Church and society, for a Biblical view of epistemology, truth, and a commitment to speaking the truth always. (Isaiah 59:1-21; 2 Corinthians 1:15-24; Eph. 4:25)

  1. Pray for the Church, that ministers would preach the truth of God’s Word, that her members would speak the truth in love, that she would not deceive, or soften the Word of the Lord in any way, and that the Lord would prosper His
Kingdom in the truth. (Ephesians 4:11-16; Psalm 45:1-5)
  2. Pray for the visible Church, for faith to believe the Lord when He declared “The truth shall make you free” and thus to be committed to the Word of the Lord, to speaking truth in every relation, that Christians might have a reputation
of being truth-tellers, and that we would guard our mouths from any deception. (John 8:31-36)
  3. Pray for reformation and revival in the Church, and society concerning truth and knowledge, that the Lord would grant and end to the Pilate-like skepticism of doubt and relativity, that the Lord would open the eyes of ourselves, fellow-
Christians, and others of every place and station to the truth of God and His Word. (John 18:38; Exodus 5:2)
  4. Pray that the Lord would silence all lying lips, and those that deceive and oppress for gain, and that He would replace those in positions of authority who speak lies. (Psalm 31:16-18; Daniel 11:27)
  5. Pray that the Lord would bring down that pride that leads to defending the indefensible with deceit and lies—that He would grant earnest, sincere candor, humble admission of fault, and a love for the truth that triumphs over all deception and lies, even at personal cost. (1 John 1:8-10; Jeremiah 42:1-22)
  6. Pray that the people of God would “buy the truth, and sell it not,” that they would “love the truth, and peace,” that they would speak the truth to their neighbors, and other associates, and that in so doing, the Lord would be pleased to
advance that example and good testimony to His Name. (Zechariah 8:16-19; Proverbs 23:23)
  7. Pray that the Church would learn to defend the good name of our neighbor, believe and expect the best of him, that the Lord would remove all gossip and evil speaking from our mouths. (2 Chronicles 18:7; 1 Peter 2:1-3)
  8. Pray for modesty in speech, avoiding of exaggeration and hyperbole except when necessary, that we would regulate our speech according to the truth, to the profit of our hearers, with soundness, gravity, and sincerity. (Titus 2:8)
  9. Pray that in order to speak the truth, we would take care regarding the information we receive, that the Lord would grant wisdom and discernment, so that what we hear would not press truth out of our minds. (Psalm 119:29)
